Texas Bases Execution Standards on John Steinbeck Novel
Nope, this isn’t from the Onion. Texas actually determines the level of mental illness of death row inmates by making comparisons to Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men. I’m at a loss for words. If you’re going to execute the most people of any other state, at least have the decency to determine whether they’re even fit to answer for their crimes. I’d expect nothing less given that even the innocence of some death row inmates is often suspect.
