The anti-science folks will be all over this. However, perhaps there’s a silver-lining to this: the fact that the scientific community seems to be transparent enough to call these papers out for their errors. It’s similar to how countries like Finland or Canada have higher reported rates of crime despite an overall low crime rate, reflecting the efficiency of their police forces. But maybe I’m just trying to be optimistic.
