Doing so legitimizes their vacuous, opportunistic statements. In the world of ubiquitous media, there’s much money to be made from bringing attention to yourself, especially through needlessly controversial and polemical statements. As the saying goes, don’t feed the trolls. To be clear, I’m all for giving diverse opinions their due consideration, no matter how contentious and fringe they may be. But I think it’s clear that not everyone with something to say has honest or constructive intentions. Just some thoughts.
