I don’t self-harm, but many of my friends do, so I’ve taken an interest in learning more about it. I’ve always been interested in human psychology in the first place. If you can provide some input, either through personal experience or knowledge, please feel free. I’d much appreciate it.
Interesting fact: animals self-injure as well, often due to neglect or abuse. That’s something to keep in mind next time you feel you’re a freak for doing it. As far as we can tell, it’s a somewhat natural coping mechanism, for lack of a better alternative, even if it isn’t healthy or common.
This picture has been making the rounds on Tumblr (understandably so). Unfortunately, it’s a fake. I’m not trying to be a buzzkill or anything, I just figured it was important to share. It almost had me for a moment too.
